Dr. Caesar Sengupta

“Birds of the Himalayas” is finally launched !

This book is my first attempt to consolidate few of the beautiful moments I enjoyed with these small beauties in the forests of the Himalayas. I thank Mr Mohit Aggarwal, Director of Asian Adventures, Indian Adventures Eco Tours for his excellent operational support.

The photographs have been taken in the Himalayan evergreen forests of Pangot and Sat Tal, Uttaranchal, India during April – May 2010.

Pangot is a small village 15 km from Nainital, 50 km from Kathgodam and 80 km from the very well known Corbett National Pak and is a very picturesque place. Cutoff from the rest of the world, disconnected from all telecommunication networks and selectively known to the bird watchers for its fantastic avian fauna, the place is still untouched and unpolluted by tourists. Sat Tal (Hindi - seven lakes) is situated in the lower Himalayan range and the place has a group of seven freshwater lakes situated at an altitude of 1370 metres. Both these places, with its dense pine and oak forest are hotspots for many migratory birds and offers extremely diverse avian fauna for the photographer
