Jungle Lore Birding Lodge Habitat

Jungle Lore Birding Lodge, Pangot, not only holds the title of being one of the first birding lodges in the country but has also made significant contributions to enhancing the flora and fauna of the region. The various plantations that have been carried out in the best birding lodge in India have not only added to the records of the plants that are grown in the region but also have become an abode for the myriad species of birds, butterflies and other insects that find their refuge in the campus of our ecolodge in Uttarakhand. Tracking the data has been a crucial step in maintaining a record. Timely surveys are being conducted in the lodge to chart how much progress we have made over the years.

Jungle Lore Birding Lodge boasts a rich diversity of flora, including 27 tree species, 60 shrubs, 5 grass species, and numerous ferns. This varied vegetation creates an ideal habitat for a wide array of bird species, making it a haven for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts alike. On March 8th, 2024, at the Jungle Lore campus, I observed a black-throated tit constructing its nest amidst the Mexican devil (Ageratina adenophora) Bushes.

Black-throated Tit

The nest was composed of moss, lichen, spider webs, and various plant materials. This highlights the intricate nesting behavior of the black-throated tit and its ability to utilize diverse natural resources for nest building within the vibrant ecosystem of the Jungle Lore campus. The breeding season for Black-throated Tit typically begins in March and lasts until June
